Benefits of Consulting with Insight Global
Posted by PR on May 27, 2010
Insight Global is in business to provide one exceptional service- connecting top employers with top talent utilizing our efficient, professional relationships with clients and consultants alike. If you are not familiar with how using a staffing service can help you find a job, this post should illustrate some of the benefits of working with a company like Insight Global.
IGI currently has a nationwide network of 21 offices that work closely together to ensure quality communication and customer service for both employers and our consultants. Insight Global fills nearly 9,000 IT staffing placements each year for a diverse range of Fortune 1000 corporations. As a result of our hard work and dedication to unparalleled quality service, we are continuing to grow at a tremendous rate. Here are some of the ways we may be able to help you as a job seeker.
The greatest reason to work with Insight Global is the personal service you receive working with our recruiters and Account Managers. Rather than applying via job postings online and hoping someone from the company’s Human Resources department will contact you based on your resume, you can have a personal and professional relationship with recruiters who have access to companies pressing hiring needs. When you are contacted directly by us, a recruiter will be personally helping you navigate the job search process by screening your abilities and connecting you to the opportunities that best fit your skill set. You can ask the recruiter questions, give comments and have the opportunity to be allied with someone who enjoys connecting employers with great employees.
Flexibility is an important advantage that working with Insight Global can offer you in your career. There are three types of placements that IGI offers, including temporary, temp to perm and permanent opportunities. For instance, if you have just relocated or are considering switching paths, a temporary assignment may be the best option for you. If you aren’t sure if you are ready to commit to a company, and would like to “try before you buy,” the temp to perm option may be the solution. As a consultant, you are able to request specific position titles, compensation, skill sets, and training opportunities in order to ensure you find the job you want. We have positions that are part time as well as full time, and we have a presence in most major metropolitan cities across the US, so if you move, we can help connect you with our regional office there.
Additionally, Insight Global can save you a lot of time in your job search process. Our recruiters are trained to efficiently complete our rigorous screening process with each new consultant. This screening ensures that your job search requirements are at our fingertips when your dream job comes across our desk. If after the screening, it is determined that you are not the perfect fit for the position you were initially called for, your information will still be easily accessible to that recruiter so they will call you as soon as the ideal position for you becomes available.
Finally, working with IGI means that you are partnering with Account Managers that have built trusting professional relationships with hiring managers throughout the city. Often times we are afforded the opportunity to present candidates to the client before they even put the job listing online. We have access to the hottest jobs and the most pressing needs of the client, so you are able to land the interview quickly and with the knowledge that the manager knows and trusts our company’s ability to choose candidates. Working with us allows you the first chance to interview with the hiring manager before other candidates have even applied for the position.
These are just a few of the reasons to work with Insight Global to find your next position. However, the best way to understand why you should work with us is to speak with us yourself. Contact one of our local branches and begin the process with a recruiter today, and please let us know how we are doing.

We are proud of the fact that since our inception, all of our growth has been organic and all promotions have come from within the organization. Who is the most interesting person you have ever met?
I was able to spend some time with one of my heroes, Arnold Palmer. “Cooking with Julie”
Posted by PR on March 18, 2010
One of our very own Account Managers was featured on a local news segment called “Talk of the Town” in Nashville, TN on March 17th. Julie aquired her love for cooking from her Italian grandmother who has coached her in the kitchen since childhood. She decided during her senior year of college to take this life-long passion to the next level by writing her first cookbook in her “free time.” Her lively personality jumps off the pages of this easy and fun to read cookbook, and its success is seen as it continues to sell out across the local bookstores in Nashville as well as her website www.collegecookingwithjulie.com. We are so proud of the accomplishments of our Insight Global employees and congratulate Julie on her continued success!

“How to land a job once your contract ends”
Posted by PR on March 16, 2010
As the contract staffing option continues its growth in popularity within the IT industry, it is extremely important that you, the valued consultant, understand the keys to landing a new job when your current contract ends. We’d like to offer you the insider tips you need to ensure the best chances of rolling into another great contract as quickly as possible.
Resume, Resume, Resume
Your resume is the most valuable tool you have for job searching. Before a job offer is made, before a face to face interview, even before a phone call from a recruiter or HR manager, the first impression a company will have of you is from your resume. So, first of all, how do you make sure that yours is found? It’s imperative that you understand how recruiters search for qualified consultants just like you. The first thing you can do is keep your resume updated online. As your contractual period nears its end, update your resume DAILY on the big search engines such as Monster, CareerBuilder, Dice and even LinkedIn. Recruiters look at the most recently updated resumes each morning, and you will want to make sure yours is seen by recruiters each morning, just in case it is the perfect fit for the job they are working to fill. Therefore, you should update something on your resume each evening or every morning to ensure that yours is near the top of the list. Next, you want to make sure your resume is optimized for a recruiters’ search. What exactly does that mean? Let me fill you in on a secret…Recruiters search for keywords in resumes that are in the job description they are trying to fill. Therefore, if a recruiter is looking for a front-end Web Developer with experience in object oriented design (OOD), cascading style sheets (CSS), user interface development, HTML and Java Script, those are the exact words they would use in the search. Therefore, if you are looking for a job where the description would have specific keywords in them, you too ought to have those exact words and phrases in your resume- multiple times! As an IT consultant, it is not important for your resume to be kept to one page. Granted, you do not need to write a novel about your experience, but you want to make sure it has a thorough description and notation of the projects you have worked on in your career. Also, if you are a candidate with a diverse background, make sure you have keywords for all of the jobs you have had and would be a good fit for. The bottom line= the more keywords in your resume, the more searches your resume will appear in.
Network ’til you drop
Second most important to your resume’s content and where it is posted is how well you are networking. If you have been working with a recruiter who says they can help you find another job after your contract ends, make sure to contact that recruiter in the weeks before your last day on site. Email them your updated resume and keep friendly contact, and let them know you would be excited to continue the professional relationship if possible. Contact your recruiter once a week to touch base and ask if they have a position you may be a good fit for in their sites. Do not become discouraged if they do not have a position that day, because in the staffing industry, things can change in a moment’s notice. Continue to follow up via email or phone weekly in case the perfect position for you falls in their lap, so you will be the first person they think to call immediately. It is also a good idea to join professional networking groups such as those on LinkedIn and local groups found through your city’s chamber of commerce. Although I do not completely agree with the saying “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know,” there is definitely some validity to having friends and contacts in the places you want to go.
Conclusion
If you enjoy project-based work and having the freedom of working in contracted positions where you are able to work for many different companies and work on a variety of projects in multiple industries, we understand. It’s a fast-paced, ever-changing world and you enjoy the challenge and excitement of change. My advice to you for landing a job after your contract ends can be ensured by working on two things: your resume and your network. Of course the intangibles are just as important for you to maintain steady work- great references, a superior work ethic, updated certifications and a positive attitude- but hopefully the tangible advice above will get your resume to the top of the pile- every time.

How to stand out at a Career Fair- and land the interview!
Posted by PR on March 3, 2010
Your hands are sweating, your heart is racing and you have no idea where to turn as you walk into the brightly lit arena. You approach a slew of long isles jammed with tall banners, colorful paraphernalia and people in suits poised in front of their company’s table. A career fair. For many people, this can be a very daunting event that is confusing and overwhelming from the time you enter the door to the weeks after when you don’t receive a follow-up call. Here are a few tips for the career-fair attendee from the employer that will help you stand out, in a good way, and land that oh-so-important interview.
Make a battle plan
Before you arrive at the Career Fair, you ought to have a battle plan. Most career fairs have a map of the companies that will be in attendance that you can download from the host’s website the day before the fair. Research the companies that are attending and are hiring for positions you are interested in and are qualified for. Star these companies on your map and write a blurb in your notebook about the company, so you can take a quick peek at your cheat sheet before approaching the representatives. Plan your path through the career fair so that it seems less daunting when you arrive, and you will feel much more confident walking through the large arena.
Shine those shoes
Your mother was right- first impressions do make a difference. You will want to pull out your suit for this big day-it’s always better to be overdressed than underdressed at a professional interview, and let’s be honest- a career fair is a first interview. The representatives attending are the first line of defense for their company, and have the ability to decide whether you are worth taking a second look at. Men, make sure your shirt and suit are pressed and unstained, your shoes are clean and shined, and your hair is well-groomed. Females, wear makeup, shoes and an outfit that says “I’m professional,” rather than “I just rolled out of bed” or “I’m going to a nightclub.” Next, you want to make sure your resume is up to date. Have a friend reread your resume for grammatical errors that you may have overlooked. Make lots of copies and put them in a binder or folder so they don’t bend or tear. Finally, wear a smile. Friendly, confident candidates leave a lasting, positive impression on representatives- one that just might get your resume to the “yes” pile rather than the “maybe.”
“Elevator Speech”
You look your best and you know where you’re going. Now what? When you approach the representatives of the company, depending on the type of interview you want to land, you will either want to show off your personality and start up a friendly, engaging conversation (ahem, sales) or for those analytical positions, be ready to dive right into your “elevator speech.” Imagine you step into an elevator and in front of you is the person who could make your dreams come true. You have 45 seconds from the time the elevator closes until it opens on the 10th floor to pitch your idea that could land you the opportunity of a lifetime. Use this concept to create a “pitch” about why you are interested in their opportunity, your skill set and why you would be a great candidate for the position. You want to let the employer know that you are serious about your career and that you have a focus. Ask them if they have any questions you could answer for them, and lastly when to expect a follow up phone call. Once you have finished answering their questions, let them know you are excited and interested in their opportunity and look forward to hearing from them soon. Ask for a business card, offer your resume if you haven’t already, and thank them for their time with another smile.
Follow up
Depending on the company, you may hear from the representative later that day or in the following days or even weeks. It’s important to ask them when you should expect to hear back, because you will not want to bombard the employer with worried emails prematurely. Actually, you should never bombard the employer with worried emails. It would be appropriate to follow up with a polite email on the day after they tell you to expect to hear from them, and if they don’t respond, a phone call.
You’re ready!
You have a plan of action, you look your best, you have your “elevator speech” and you know how to follow up with the employer. Congratulations, you are officially ready for the career fair! Best of luck, and let us know how it goes.

The “Do what it takes” Mentality
Posted by PR on March 2, 2010
Over the last decade, Insight Global has built a reputation for unsurpassed dedication to customer service. Here is an insider’s point of view about what this really means. What does it look like for a company to “do what it takes” on a daily basis? What separates IGI from the rest of our competition? Most importantly, what do Insight Global employees do differently than other companies to claim that they “Do what it takes”?
Insight Global was founded in 2001 on the principle that we would outwork our competition on a daily basis in order to be successful. We come to the office early to get a head start on the day. We take extra time and energy to foster personal and business relationships with our clients. It’s typical to hear about our Account Managers attending benefit events, spending Saturdays at little league games, going to community service days and many other stories of going over and above what is expected of them in order to build relationships with their clients. We contact more candidates during the workday than our competition and we thoroughly screen and interview each candidate before submitting them to our clients. Most importantly, when a problem or situation arises, we do whatever it takes to remedy the situation to ensure that the client or contractor was satisfied with the end result. You can find many testimonials on our site that point to this type of dedication, and we will strive each day to continue this level of dedication to success.
We also only employ recruiters and salespeople and managers who believe in and understand the importance of this kind of dedication to success. The employees of Insight Global understand that it takes extra energy, effort and determination to be better than “average.” It means you must work harder each day than you worked the day before. It takes a humble and positive attitude, a strong internal motivation and a willingness to work with all types of people to be a leader. We understand that it can be uncomfortable sometimes to take the “high road” and apologize when mistakes are made, and then turn around and quickly find a solution that makes the customer happy. It is difficult for some to be held accountable to this standard, but this is the standard we hold ourselves to each day.
The result of this “do what it takes” mentality is easy to see when you look at our tradition of excellence and tremendous compounded annual growth rate of 180% between 2001- 2009. Despite the challenges thrown at us by the state of the economy, we have emerged as a company who will be successful, no matter what. We will continue to “do what it takes” and will continue to enjoy working with those who appreciate that kind of effort. If you would like to see us in action, give us a call to work with you, and we will show you personally what we’re made of.

“Worked on my behalf”
Posted by PR on
“I had read many things about Insight Global before I was contacted for a contract to hire position. During my years as a contractor, I had tried many times to even obtain an interview with (a prestigious company). It was between contracts and while I was vacationing in Florida I received the call about this opportunity. The Recruiter was very personable and offered assistance during the initial contact and throughout the hiring process, making sure the paperwork and transition went smooth. My Account Manager, worked on my behalf to assist me during the interview process. I would have to say that if it were not for Insight Global’s connection with this prestigious client and the efforts of my Recruiter and Account Manager, I would not be able to pursue this great opportunity.”
